ABOUT THE POSITION
Indigo Cultural Center is piloting one of the inaugural programs of Indigo Community Healing Arts, Intergenerational Sacred Sister Circles with Auntie Eva: To provide and hold space for healing, co-conspiring and solidarity among Black womxn healers.
The Sister Circle is a healing-centered space where Black womxn healers of all generations come together once a month to heal, connect, reflect, and build community. While healers engage in in-person healing circles led by Dr. Eva Marie Shivers (aka: Auntie Eva), children of the participants will engage in parallel programming that nurtures creativity, cultural
pride, and joyful expression.
We are hiring a part-time Creative Arts Instructor to lead the parallel programming with children. We are seeking a passionate, imaginative, and dependable individual to facilitate creative and engaging activities for children ages 3–12 during our monthly gatherings. The Instructor must be available for program offerings every fourth Saturday August to December 2025. Hourly pay is $25-$35 and based on education and
experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Facilitating arts-based experiences such as storytelling, dance, music, visual arts, and crafts
• Creating a safe and welcoming environment for children to explore and connect
• Collaborating with Indigo program staff to ensure children’s activities reflect the spirit and values of the Sister Circle
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
• Experience working with young children in community or creative settings
• A culturally responsive and trauma-informed approach to working with youth
• A genuine love for children and a passion for building joyful, healing-centered spaces
• Fingerprint card - Level 1 clearance (or able to obtain a card prior to starting work)
• We strongly encourage applications from individuals who have lived experience as, or who identify as Black or African American, as well as those who have experience promoting Black culture or working with Black/African American children. This role is part of a culturally specific program designed to support and celebrate the Black community.
