What We Do
Child Development Research | Racial Equity Workforce Support | Community Healing Arts
Since 2007, Indigo has lived up to its mission and vision through its three divisions by centering social justice, culture, and community.

Child Development Research
The Institute for Child Development Research and Social Change Division at Indigo Cultural Center is a community-based research firm that specializes in action research and evaluation focused on child and youth mental health and development. The Institute is directed by Jayley Janssen, Ph.D.
Racial Equity Workforce Support
Indigo’s Racial Equity Consultation and Training Division, led by Natasha Pérez Byars, MS, MSW, LICSW, works closely with early childhood and mental health partners around the country at local, state, and national levels. Whether through short-term or years-long partnerships, Indigo supports professionals and systems in navigating complexity with care; integrating and embodying racial justice values at individual, interpersonal, and institutional levels; and strengthening organizational and system capacities to lead their own equity and social justice work.

Community Healing Arts
In collaboration with our community partners, the Indigo Community Healing Arts Division supports Phoenix-based programming that uses a creative learning and exploration process to: uplift the voices of Black community members to articulate their point of view on issues that matter to them, raise awareness in others, and inspire new action.
